For Cummins NTA855 Series Engines
The intake air temperature after turbocharging in a Cummins diesel generator set often increases by more than 100 degrees compared to pre-turbocharging levels. This elevated temperature causes the air to expand within the intake piping, which is detrimental to efficient air intake. However, after passing through the aftercooler, the temperature decreases, thereby improving the volumetric efficiency. In practical operation, the Cummins generator set's air-to-air aftercooler cools the air exiting the turbocharger compressor, increasing air density and consequently enhancing the engine's charging efficiency.
● Only high-quality, high-durability components should be used in the air-to-air aftercooling system, as it is critical to engine performance and reliability.
● The intake air temperature from the aftercooler to the engine intake manifold must not exceed the limits specified in the engine technical parameter tables.
● The resistance (pressure drop) of the air-to-air aftercooling system must not exceed the limits specified in the engine technical parameter tables. The installation of the aftercooler must not cause the engine cooling capacity to fall below recommended requirements.
